“Seconds” – Handmade fused glass Light Brown & Black Tray

Why is this reduced price? This is a “seconds” item, which is considered to have small imperfections.
#1 – These were made for a Glassette Special Edition Project and even though the glass sheet was the same brand and colour (extra purchased from a different retailer), it was clearly from a different batch and the shade of brown was lighter than the rest of the project and not the rich brown I was after and needed (see photo). These therefore did not match the coasters and oval platters that were also being made/sold as part of the project.
#2 – My kiln elements were wearing out and causing “devit” on some black squares – it is where crystals develop on the surface of the glass but looks like a smudge/haze or fingerprint mark – that cannot be removed. There was quite a few of these coasters so some will have the devit marks in different places (see example photos). Hence the low price as the exact tray received will differ slightly to the photos. The surface is still lovely and smooth.

Each piece of glass is lovingly handcrafted in my workshop in Cornwall UK; and kiln-fused at 800°c, making every dish unique.
